9 miles- 1:13 roads easy
Lots of great reads in the blog world of late as We$tern $tate$ 100 had its lottery (with many top ultrastuds being left out) and discussion on the need to modify the lottery seen on Andy Jones Wilkins, Wynn Davis, Anton Krupicka, and Bryon Powell's blogs.
Massanutten opens entry today, I bet it is full within 48hours.
Perhaps the best read is an interview with the legend Barney Klecker on Chad Austin's site. Wow this guys is amazing.
As for me I am starting to get excited about the Hellgate 100k.

Thanks for the blog mention, Loomdog.
I, too, am getting excited about Hellgate - was just reading Aaron Schwartzbard's course description on the metro ride to work. Should be an experience. I wonder when Horton will send out the seedings - it's about that time.
48 hours to fill up? Took about an hour, I think....
Yep filled in 2 hours and now with a good wait list! Somehow the sport has gotten popular. But, with 43 other 100 milers out there now days (as opposed to 12 when I began racing them in 1999. There are options. Including perhaps the best one. http://www.iroquoistrails100.com/
BTW, not sure if/how often you check comments on your previous days - but late last night I added one on the Dec 1 entry. I think the "long recovery" approach is a great way to train for longer stuff.
Dave I did see your recap of a 15x800m with equal recoverey workout. The 20 sec per mile faster than marathon pace is right about 1/2 marathon pace so this is a good one indeed. I will have to start doing some treadmill tempo/variation workouts coming up after Hellgate.
Loomdog - thanks for the link to the Klecker interview; he is in whole 'nother league from us current ultrarunners.
btw, I added my take on the WS100 situation to my blog....
